Sentinel
Gig Worker Safety & Operational Risk Monitoring Platform
Executive Overview
Sentinel is an operational safety platform designed to protect on-field gig workers, logistics riders, and delivery personnel. Developed as part of the Guidewire Devtrials Insurance Startup Simulation, Sentinel integrates spatial hazard grid mapping, risk scoring, and operational incident workflows.
The Problem
Gig delivery personnel face heightened road safety hazards, harsh climate extremes, and hazardous spatial zones without real-time proactive warnings or institutional safety tracking.
The Solution
A hexagonal spatial-grid monitoring platform that analyzes environmental risk parameters, triggers automated alerts to field workers, and equips platform operators with real-time incident dispatch capabilities.
Key Platform Features
Architecture & Engineering Decisions
- Frontend: Next.js, React.js, Radix UI primitives, Tailwind CSS
- Backend & Services: Node.js, Supabase, PostgreSQL relational store
- Infrastructure & DevOps: Docker containerized runtime, Vercel frontend
Engineering Challenges
- •Designing hexagonal spatial grid visualizations that render smoothly without browser lag.
- •Modeling asynchronous risk factors into deterministic danger scores for delivery personnel.
Outcome & Status
Successfully prototyped and demonstrated during the Guidewire Devtrials simulation, featuring complete architectural diagrams, persona models, and interface implementations.
